Anti-Wrinkle Injections for Younger Skin

Anti-wrinkle injections are one of the most popular cosmetic treatments available at The Shamrock Clinic. The treatment is hugely successful and is known to make wrinkles less visible, by relaxing facial muscles.

What are Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections contain a naturally occurring protein, botulinum toxin, which works by preventing nerve impulses from reaching muscles, inhibiting them from contracting and therefore smoothing out wrinkles. The results speak for themselves and smooth, soften or eliminate frown lines and fine lines around the problematic areas of the face.

The treatment itself is a very quick procedure and for ease, can be completed during the working day. The side effects are minimal, meaning clients can return to work or their normal routine immediately after the treatment if they wish.

How long do the results last for anti-wrinkle injections?

The treatment itself is temporary and the results will wear off gradually over time. This varies per client but on average the treatment will need to be repeated every 4-6 months.

Ann advises clients to repeat the injections 3 times during the first year, then twice per year going forward, reducing to once a year. This allows the muscles recovery time and is considered best practice if you choose to regularly have anti-wrinkle injections.

Which areas can I have Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

One of the questions Ann gets asked the most is where the anti-wrinkle injections should be applied on the face to reduce the signs of ageing. This is the client’s choice ultimately, as everyone is different, however, the most popular areas are:

  • Frown Lines (vertical lines which form between the eyebrows)
  • Eyebrows
  • Crow’s Feet
  • Forehead Lines
  • Lines around the mouth and top lip
  • Chin creases

Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?

Wrinkle reduction injections have been used for many years, and were first used 40 years ago, although the treatment has changed considerably over the years. Doctors and Consultants not only use anti-wrinkle injections for cosmetic procedures, but also to relax muscles and reduce sweating.

Facial Aesthetics experience

Anti-wrinkle injections are safe when they are completed by a trained medical practitioner. Medical practitioners must have the appropriate training to complete this non-surgical treatment, the risks are extremely minimal.

Difference between Skin Boosters and Derma Fillers

What are the main difference between skin boosters and derma fillers? Whilst both containing hyaluronic acid (HA) as the main ingredient, they are not interchanged when it comes to offering skin ageing treatments, they behave in a different way.  Skin boosters are not cross-linked so they are usually much thinner in consistency and have a greater spread. Generally, skin boosters can soften fine lines, hydrate and improve the texture and condition of the skin.  On the other hand, dermal fillers are generally used when voluminsation, contouring, or augmentation is required in specific areas of the face such as cheeks with a line, chin or lips.
